Welcome to the Arc
An expanse of the Milky Way nearly ten thousand light years across. At the end of the 23rd century interplanetary atomic war devastated the Sol system. Humanity’s home world was lost. The scattered remnants fled across the impossible vastness of space to seek refuge among the distant colonies of earth and mars. For hundreds of year sol was silent. The colonies of man looked back at that pail blue dot and wept for a mother lost. Until with a sudden burst Mars and Earth and the colonies of Jupiter and beyond erupted with light and life. Someone, or something was alive.
What came next were no messages of hope, but the drums of war. From the sol system came an armada with a power only imagined: to travel beyond the speed of light. But greater revelations awaited mankind and her children – humanity was not alone.
The Magisterium of the Covenant, an interstellar empire and might tens of thousands of years in the making met the Imperium of Sol blow for blow. Yet this galactic war came to a shocking conclusion with the discovery of an ancient human colony on the edge of space, and a threat which promised to destroy the Imperium and Magisterium alike. A century after the genetically superior Empyreans of Sol and the alien Xhu clashed over the fate of the colonies, a galaxy of adventure awaits!

The history of the Arc stretches back eons, to a time of a council of civilizations known as the Protogens. For reasons unknown, the protogen cultures would each crumble and fall, and leave only echoes of the advanced technology scattered throughout the milky way. Yet it seems even these sophisticated races never unlocked the power of the Horizon Drive, and engine which makes it possible to cross space at speeds exceeding that of light.
And this discovery changed everything. The shackles of relativity shattered, it became possible for humanity to cross light years in hours or days. The fragile peace of the galaxy has ushered in a new era of exploration and discovery. Horizon Drive technology has spread throughout the Arc, and now adventurers can seek their fortune in the unknown reaches of space.
